Ability to Vote on Non-Contest time Period Deals

submitted on February 4, 2009 by Solstice in "Buxr Website / Contests"

Would you be entertain the idea of taking away the ability to vote for an deal once its no longer eligible for the daily contest time frame, or do you have a reason for leaving the possibly to vote on a deal up after such time?

(I'm also looking for input on the idea from other members.)

Voting and commenting is a way for us to retain new members. The voting arrows are there on each deal and you will not believe how many members sign up each day just to make a single vote and hide! Smile

We then send our monthly newsletter with the contest result which (my guess) brings some of them back to check out the site. This is my speculation however and I don't have solid data to support it.

Why do you want to remove voting on old deals?

I guess I just don't see the point in allowing an item to be voted on further after its no longer running in the contest. All I can see that it does is provide an avenue by which members can vote on something to artificially inflate their total vote count, so it appears as though they are supporting their fellow members more frequently on the "monthly contest" page, when in fact they are not. I can't imagine I'm the only one who notices this occurring, and its kinda silly to assume nobody would notice at all.
