18 Things You Can Get Rid of Today

submitted on January 23, 2011 by vectra5 in "Member's Lounge"
Stuff. For many of us it's worse than any four-letter word. That's because "stuff" can weigh you down and
hold you back, says Gail Blanke, author of Throw Out Fifty Things. And, in the end, much of what we accumulate in life isn't all that important. As Marilyn Bohn, author of Go Organize!, points out, "No one ever says, 'I wish I'd kept more stuff.'"

Here are the things listed in the article:

1. Kitchen Utensils
2. Coffee Mugs
3. Plastic Containers
4. Little-Used Kitchen Stuff
5. Vases
6. Food
7. Spices
8. Receipts
9. Magazines
10. Mail
11. Unread Books
12. Clothes
13. Kids' Clothes
14. Kids' Artwork
15. Electronics
16. Linens
17. Medicine
18. Toys

I've been slowly weeding through things in my house for the past year. I know in the not too distant future moving might be happening and I really don't want to pack all the stuff accumulated.

I'll email my address to anyone who needs it--NOT for junk...for tax receipts! Usually the charities give you a blank receipt! Anything under $400 only needs simple receipt. Now why do I know this? Don't ask!

You're not a hoarder, or packrat, you're collectors! My husband and son are the same. My husband goes through my trash before throwing it out in case there may be something useful in it! Ug! But he'll step over trash & doggie doody rather than pick it up! I put my foot down under the kitchen table last night in bare feet right into a fresh, warm pile! Squished up between my toes! Glad I had Hospice cut my toenails that day. Had to put grocery bag over foot to be taken to shower! I asked my husband if he wanted to collect that too! Artistic

This reminds me that I really need to get rid of some clothing. I have a lot that just doesn't fit any longer.
