10 Cheap Ways to Get a Great Gift for Under $5

submitted on November 30, 2010 by webbyone2010 in "Products / Gadgets"
Some of these are great ideas. I hear the gift vouchers don't always go over well. . . .

1. Use your credit card rewards.
2. Buy something on eBay.
3. Buy a joke gift.
4. Grow something.
5. Bake something.
6. Invite them over for a surprise dinner.
7. Make some home made wine.
8. Create your own gift experience
9. Give a promise.
10. Write a poem and frame it.

Good ideas. I was thinking about baking cookies and wrapping them in colored plastic wrap with some nice ribbon and giving them out to my child's caregiver, some neighbors, etc. Who doesn't love holiday cookies?!?

I used to bake a lot of cookies to give away as presents & now that I'm pretty much imobile, I took some classes and now I make all sorts of beaded jewelry/watches and ornaments which have gone over quite well as Christmas gifts and are fairly inexpensive to make.

About crafts, the author of this book was reviewed yesterday on NPR's Marketplace:

I found the story pretty fascinating...

The author says “being poor is a wonderful motivation for being creative.” I've always appreciated the thought behind a creative gift way more than an expensive one.

And don't forget about recyling olg gifts as long as they're in prestine condition and you've removed any telling tags.

    Great tips. Thanks Webby.

Gonna have to see if I can talk my better half into making muffins to give as gifts.
