emma, give my Anti-Malware Toolkit a try and see if you can use it to get programs you need to remove any possible infections.


There's also using the command prompt and doing things such as sfc /purgecache followed by sfc /scannow as it will help repair files in your computer.


If you're on XP, I'd recommend using Dial-a-fix as well.

not able to open cmd the window comes and goes .
Could you provide the download link once again i tried the old link but that exe is not running.

not able to run any of the exe. i downloaded the toolkit but when i click i get mssg that the exe is infected.

Curious, and I'm sure I already know the answer given your situation, but are you running any back-up software, which you could rely on to revert your computer back to a previous state?

The reason I ask is that quite a few of these can be activated and ran before your computer boots the windows operating system, and it most likely would be able to bypass the issue of .exe files being corrupted and unobtainable, especially if it can utilize a bootable media CD.

(The latter might require you to change the boot order of your drives in BIOS, but given that its a netbook I'm betting it does not have a CD/DVD drive either.)

I dont have cd drive i tried to restore the system but it didn't work.When i click on system restore on pop up window is coming.

It sounds like a bad rootkit.

Sorry to hear the bad news emma. You may just want to try a bootable pendrive linux OS in order to backup your files and then reformat your little netbook. It is possible to reinstall Windows from a flash drive as well and it goes faster than installing from CD. In the alternative you could always get an external drive to make it a little easier.

Another tip: Using System Restore in Windows can be a good and a bad thing. Good because you can backup to a restore point if you delete something or if an error occurs. Bad when a virus takes hold of your system because it can corrupt previous restore points making it almost impossible to remove the virus.

I am going to get external CD drive to boot up....Hope this helps.

I was not bale to fix it ...finally i reinstalled windows xp using the USB cd drive. Everything is up and running.
