When are old unexpired deals considered no longer valid? 

Here are the general rules, although there are always weird scenarios that pop-up now and again.

You allowed to repost after the product after 30+ Days.

Exclusion: Freebies may not be re-submitted until after 1 full year.

Exclusion: Coupons can never be resubmitted, unless it previously expired.

Admin, please correct me if I am wrong on any of these rules.

Huge HOWEVER, Admin loves it when you just kick them back alive with a quick flagging, so "new" and "fresher" deals are submitted, and not just the same posts over and over again.

FYI: If the old product post is expired, then the 30+ day wait does not apply.

Thank you for taking the time to explain and also to show me the previous discussion. I think I'll keep these posts in my favorites, too, for later reference. In this particular case, the old deal was not expired, so it looks to me like the new one is a duplicate. It does indeed appear that it was resubmitted word-for-word by another member, when in my inexperienced view the original should have been flagged as still alive. It seems that no one else is participating in our discussion. But I see the action in this scenario (allowing the second deal) as the complete opposite of the existing rules.

Let me summarize the rules with a few corrections:

1. 'Freebies'

You cannot resubmit a freebie regardless of time unless this is a different promotion (the previous promotion participants will get the freebie).

2. 'Product' type deals - deal improves (e.g. price goes down):

a. You can re-submit the same store deal after 24 hours
b. You can re-submit a different store deal any time

3. 'Product' type deals - deal didn't improve (e.g. price didn't go down):

a. You can re-submit after 24 hours if the deal was flagged expired unless somebody flags it 'alive again' before you re-submit
b. You can re-submit after 30 days otherwise (if not flagged expired) unless somebody flags it 'alive again' before you re-submit

4. Sales and coupons

You cannot re-submit a coupon unless it was expired and 30 days have passed since the last expiration date). By re-submission we mean that the old deal goes to the same URL or uses the same coupon code as the new one.

One more question.... how to flag old deal 'alive again'? What's the process? Does it have to be done by the original member who submitted it, or anybody can verify it's still active?

To flag a deal alive just go to the deal page, click on the drop down list that says 'problem?' and select 'alive again'. Anyone can flag the deal 'alive again', not just the original submitter.

I thought all posts drop off the searchable listings after 365 days, including freebies.

If that is indeed the case, then even a "search older deals" function will not find the freebie.

i.e. If it can't be searched for, then it cannot be declared a duplicate, and vis-a-vis could be re-submitted.

... Or do freebie posts stick around longer than that and I just got confused somewhere?

We actually don't remove anything. If you sort by activity using the control on the right hand side bar then the 365 days are calculated from the last deal activity (e.g. a comment or flag) and can include deals way older than 365 days.

I am personally fine with 365 days resubmission rule for freebies (I think it is fairly reasonable) however officially accepting it may encourage others to intentionally search for old Buxr freebies and re-submit them and I don't want to take a chance of that.
