It was a price mistake. I got my "ordered cancelled" message today. The truth is that I prefer Garmin anyway, and this was Tom Toms' one an only chance to convert me. The price would have been impossible to beat for this size of GPS with lifetime updates. As such, I now remain on team Garmin.
