The pricegrabber item is Second Generation with the firmware upgrade, which I belive is $9.99. The item listed is first generation. Here are the differences between the two:

    New stuff in 2nd generation.

External volume control on the side : But why just a volume control? why not an entire playback control, to me this was somewhat pointless as I don't need to change the volume often but I do like to be able to skip tracks and such. So either way on first or second you still have to goto the screen to change that.

Thinner : course 8mm isn't that much thinner than the first gen, and if you put it in a case, its not going to make much of a difference.

Built in speaker : ok, that's kinda nice, the first gen had that too but it was limited to beeps and alarms, where as the 2nd gen's internal speaker (behind the metal casing, so harder to hear if you put it in a case), is decent enough for apps and games and such.

Nike+ : Mainly so you can use the nike+ system without the dongle, but I don't know too many people jogging with a touch , but rather a nano or something more durable.

Longer battery life: not new to the 2nd gen cuz the 1st gen got this too with the 2.1 firmware update (it was a power management update, not a hardware one).

the Second gen can use that new earbud that has the playback control on the neck peice, as well as a small mic... but its like 80$

About everything else is the same, cept the 1st gen shipps with firmware 1.1.4 which you'd have to pay 10$ to upgrade to 2.1 (but free for every 2.* afterwards), where as the 2nd gen ships with 2.1.1

PS #2: The 1st gen gets the app store soon as you upgrade to the 2.0 firmware.
