This almost seems too good - does anyone have the Playon software/system? Does it actually replace all OTA/standard cable channels?

If you click on the link here, then on the bottom of the first page click on "Take A Look at What You Can Watch," it says "Full Listing of PlayOn Channels" with some fine print on the bottom.

Then, on the botton of that page, if you click on "What You Need" it will give you more info on system requirements, compatible devices, etc. as well as a FREE TRIAL.

So, I guess you can try it out FREE first?

I think they normally offer a 14-day free trial. I think you should try it before committing $$ to it.

One important thing, PlayOn doesn't replace all those video sources they mention. You need to have accounts with them for your PlayOn software to be able to stream video, and some of those accounts are not free (e.g. Netflix costs around $10 monthly).

Yup - found that out going through the FAQs yesterday night. The good news is a lot of the TV channels are FREE (other than the one-time or monthly or annual subscription to PlayOn). So, along with a PC/gaming system/DLNA certified player like Roku, WD Live etc, this is replacing the cable box entirely, and acting as a media aggregator.

Here is a nice review form someone who has the service.
Also read the comments to the blog post. Here is one that tells a lot about what PlayOn really is:

My question is, how is this any better than hooking up your pc to a tv?

Do they give you access to Hulu Plus, or Netflix movies? Or do you still need to sign up (and pay) for these services separately?

It technically would be the same as hooking up your PC to your tv, but it removes the hassle of both the cables or extra hardware as well as grouping together all internet tv channels into one easily accessible spot.

Any of the accounts that you would orinially need to sign up/pay for, you will still need to do so.

It’s a great way to get all of the internet tv channels in one spot, available on any phone (iphone or android) or your tv, whether it be by a gaming system, content box or a blu ray player.

Already have a DLNA streamer (WD) - but this looks interesting.
