    If only the software was a good, quality software instead of being well known for bloatware. What's worse is the recent issues of killing off critical system files, it'd get a vote up...

    It's entirely your perception. If McAfee were a bloatware company, they would have been out of business by this time. It's being in business since a long time and has a solid reputation for being better atleast from the likes of Norton and Kaspersky. And this was a FREE offer, unlike the ones where you need to "Pay for shipping" charges. You don't have anything to loose.

    I'm not going to neg vote on this deal, but I have been in the IT industry for years and McAfee has to be one of the biggest resource hogs out there.

    I posted a deal for CA Internet Security last month -security software my law firm uses and it works wonderfully and doesn't bog our computers down -even though most of the client PCs have only 512 MB in memory.

    Most of the major silicon companies use enterprise McAfee products and I can only imagine the risk of the data loss if it were to fail for any reason.
