    Have to have a valid .edu address. I can remember being a full time student, yet not having an .edu address Sad

    Still offered and likely will be offered for some time. I will switch the deal into an on-going offer to remove the 'possibly expired' warning message from the top of the deal.

    I used my old .edu address and it worked even though I'm not a student anymore.

    Now I can't stop ordering from Amazon. So addictive. Red Face

      My interpretation is different: first year is free and renewal is half-price for up to 4 years.

These benefits can't be shared with another account, but if you continue with a paid membership you'll receive access to thousands of Prime instant videos.

      Once the $39 membership is selected, you'll no longer be eligible for the free period even if the paid membership is canceled.

      It doesn't cost anything to participate in Amazon Student.

      Am I missing the point you are trying to make? New student sign-ups get a year free, and renewals for those accounts are half price for up to 4 years. This free offer is for the first year, not a renewal.

      New students who sign up, get a FREE year of membership + when they renew they pay $39 / per year ( for upto 4 years ) if they want to.

      Existing students ( like me ) already got the FREE year and if we want to renew - we pay the $39 renewal charges.

      So If I were to login with my existing Amazon.com (Account #1) account and try to sign up - I would get only the RENEWAL option. But if you sign out and sign in with a non-prime account (Account #2) , you get the option of signing up for FREE for 1 year PRIME account.

      I did that ( signed into a non-prime account ) and using my existing .edu email ( the one which I used last year to sign up for Amazon account #1 ) and was able to convert Account #2 into a prime account.
