I would recommend anything but a Dell. I've had problems with every Dell laptop I've ever owned. Haven't tried any of their netbooks.

A netbook with Ubuntu Linux is a very fine choice. We have been very fortunate with our Dell laptops, which we purchased with all available discounts. Dell's warranty is fantastic, as they readily replaced free of charge the only problematic one we ever had. The replacement was a better model with a new 4-year warranty.
But, to be fair, Apple has served us well, too. Does that make us ambidextrous? LOL

I have a little Acer Aspire One netbook and love it. It runs Linpus Linux and the boot time is amazing. From a shutdown I've had it boot and get on the internet in less then 30 seconds. Mr Green
