April Contest Results

Hope you had a great April, because we sure did! Things are heating up, and I’m not talking about the weather. Contest participation is spreading faster than the swine flu. OK, maybe not that fast, but it’s our best month ever in terms of contest participation. We’ve had more users voting, submitting deals, and commenting than ever before. It sure feels like our baby is out of the stroller and walking on it’s own. So lets wait no longer and get to the contest results:

1st Place: Overaged with 257 points and winner of $150 in cash! (Second 1st place finish a row!!)
2nd Place: kldpm with 200 points and winner of $125 in cash!
3rd Place: Chinnam with 199 Points and winner of $100 in cash!
4th Place: vinhdanh with 186 Points and winner of $75 in cash!
5th Place: k-rock360 with 196 Points and winner of $75 in cash!
6th Place: Solstice with 189 Points and winner of $75 in cash!
7th Place: deathbynosleep with 186 Points and winner of $50 in cash!
8th Place: arzkar with 184 Points and winner of $50 in cash!

As you can see a lot of new faces this month, and a very tight race. Thanks to all of the members who participated in this month’s contest. We appreciate all that you do for the Buxr community.

Refer a friend contest results:

Now for the results of our “secret” Refer a Friend contest. OK, it’s not a secret, but it might as well be one. Only two members were able to earn some easy cash this month by referring just 5 friends. I think I can safely say, here are two of Buxr’s smartest members:

1st place: lprjohnny with 7 total friends wins $50
2nd place: bigger915 with 6 total friends wins $50

As I’ve said before, this overlooked contest could be your gain. Not only is this easy to win, but it is essential for the growth of the site.

Contest changes this month

Did you know Yan and I drink a lot of coffee? So we thought it would be very cool to drink out of our own mugs with our own logo on it. In fact we think you should too. So this month in addition to our usual contest prizes we will be giving away Buxr coffee mugs to the top twenty finishers in the monthly contest. It’s just another small way to say thanks to you, our valued Buxr community members.

Some cool new features and functionality on Buxr

• We now have a submission video tutorial (you need to be logged in).
• We’ve added extra emoticons in comments and forums so you can express yourself better
• There’s a coupon module on the front page, so you can track our most popular coupons.
• A profanity filter for family friendliness in forums and comments.
• We have image uploads in the discussion forums.
• Minor tweaks to the submission page for ease of use.
