March Contest Results

Greetings Buxr Members,

Well, I always say this, but I can’t believe it’s April, and Spring is already here! I’m sure you are all very excited about us being acquired by Microsoft! It’s been another great month for Buxr, with what looks like a large amount of deals submitted and voted upon (maybe our best ever?) We are obviously thrilled with the results.

And if that doesn’t get your juices flowing, I’m sure the Monthly Contest winner results will. Probably the most competitive month ever in Buxr history, here are the final results of the contest:

1st Place: Kldpm with 227 points and winner of $150 in cash! (Second 1st place finish a row!!)
2nd Place: Solstice with 204 points and winner of $125 in cash!
3rd Place: Vinhdanh with 203 Points and winner of $100 in cash!
4th Place: Arzkar with 186 Points and winner of $75 in cash!
5th Place: Overaged with 146 Points and winner of $75 in cash!
6th Place: JackBauer with 134 Points and winner of $75 in cash!
7th Place: MacGyver with 124 Points and winner of $50 in cash!
8th Place: Phunkeey with 123 Points and winner of $50 in cash!

I want to say congrats to all of our winners and thank them for all of their contributions. We had a record amount of participation this month, and we think this is the beginning of a real growth period for the site. Hot deals seem to show up at Buxr as quickly as ever and with the front page redesign, you can get a great birds-eye view of the hottest deals. Thanks again for all of your support. Next month should be even better.

Refer a friend contest results:

Did you know we had a refer a friend contest? I guess most of you did not (based on the amount of participation). And that’s too bad, because most members missed an opportunity to make some easy money.

However, there is one member who did not miss this opportunity… and that would be none other than Overaged who referred 5 members, and takes home the $50 prize for referring 5 friends. While most members were sweating away, submitting deals, Overaged spread the word about Buxr and earned some easy money.

We sincerely hope that more members will participate in next month’s contest, not only to earn prizes, but to help grow the community.

We love negative votes, and you should too!

We obviously love hot deals at Buxr, and hate bad ones. We hope you do too. So in an effort to increase the quality of Buxr deal submissions, we will give an extra point to members who are the first to down vote the worst deal of the day. Users who down vote afterwards will receive the standard 1 point. We are doing this because we know it’s hard to be the first one to down vote a deal from a fellow community member. That being said, without down votes, it is difficult for shoppers to weed out the bad deals from the good. Hopefully this will encourage more down votes for deservedly bad deals.

How are we doing?

We would love to hear your feedback! What do you think of the site so far? Are we doing anything really wrong or really right? We need to hear feedback to continually improve the site. We have gotten some wonderful feedback in the past and it helps us steer Buxr in the right direction.
