August contest results and changes for the next month
September 1st, 2008
Monthly contest results are in:
Our August contest is over and the winner is… Coree511 with a whopping 185 points (last month’s 2nd place winner)! Coree will receive $150 in cold hard cash.
In second place is last month’s 1st prize winner… OrangeArrows with a jaw-dropping 168 points and 3rd place going to bestdeal with an impressive 157 points. Orangearrows and the bestdeal will each receive $100 and $50 cash prizes respectively for their finishes as voted by the Buxr community.
Congratulations to all the winners of the Buxr monthly contest, we greatly appreciate all of the hard work and time you devote into enriching the Buxr community.
The Referral Contest results are…
Congratulations to Solstice and Orangearrows our winners in the monthly referral contest. Solstice referred 3 friends and Orangearrows referred just 2 friends to win $150 and $100 cash prizes respectively. Talk about easy money… If you had referred just one member in the past month, you would have won $50 as the third prize winner! We are really hoping to see more participation in this contest next month, because this contest will help Buxr grow.
New Changes to the Monthly Contest
Yan and I take the contest results fairness very seriously… it keeps us up at night! Literally, we were on the phone (late at night) brainstorming about new ways to make the contest more transparent and fair for everyone in the community.
After much deliberation we are pleased to announce “The Buxr Editor’s Choice Best Daily Deal!” The editors choice will be a deal which Yan and I pick as the best deal based on our background as deal aficionado’s and black-belt bargain hunters
and of course your votes. Don’t get us wrong we are pleased with community picks, but we feel things have gotten too safe and predictable here at Buxr, and we think having an editors pick will add some spice to the daily contest. We are running the Editor’s pick as a trial, and would love to hear your feedback so we can continue to improve things at Buxr.com.
Did I mention improvements? We have a lot of exciting new features at Buxr:
Yan has written a terrific blog post about some of the new features he’s been adding behind the scenes like: deal sorting, flagging, upcoming queue, and auto-moderation (yes!). I think it’s definitely worth a read for anyone participating in the Buxr community.
Thanks Again Buxr Members
Again I want to thank everyone who participates in the Buxr community for you time, effort and feedback! We wouldn’t be here today without your help. We have more exciting announcements on the way, so please stay tuned!
Cheers,
Mike & Yan @ Buxr.com

Thanks everyone for all your votes, and thank you Yan & Mike for all your hard work and sense of fairness!
To show my thanks, I will sit this month out of the contest…for real. Others have talked of it, but it is my intention to visit Buxr only to vote on deals and give an honest opinion. That’s hard to do when you are in the contest because of the fear that if you vote neg on a deal you will suffer retaliation or lose the contest by voting up a good deal that will knock you out of the competition.
Good luck to all the newbies! Wish I could give you more help, but I will try to do that in my comments on your deals.
And THANK YOU again!! =)
