April 12th, 2008
Not too long ago Sharper Image filed for bankruptcy and we know what happened next - they stopped accepting gift cards. Multiple news sources report that Chapter 11 may now be in the works for Linen ‘n Things. According to Wall Street Journal the retailer could file for bankruptcy protection as early as next Tuesday so if you hold any of those LNT gift cards, you might want to hurry up cashing them out before it is too late.

I agree with you. I had 150 LNT gift cards, and I spent mine frantically in fear of the news today. However, just because they are filing for bankruptcy, does not necessarily mean that the cards will be void It’s similar with The Sharper Image example. Where they would accept the cards, but attach some form of stipulation. It’s almost too early to tell. By all means, spend them now, and you won’t have to worry about them. There are some good 20% off coupons on line. just google them. There’s more information on gift card bankruptcy, savvywallet.com
